Michigan Senate Race

Primary August 4

The Michigan seat is an open Democratic seat vacated by Senator Gary Peters. The race has three unusually strong Democratic contenders battling for the nomination while the Republicans have cleared the field.

The Democratic candidates are:

  • Rep. Haley Stevens, MI -11

  • State Sen. Mallory McMorrow, State Senate Majority Whip

  • Abdul El-Sayed Ex Wayne County Health Director, Physician, Epidemiologist.

All the candidates are raising well and are unlikely to drop out before the primary.

The Republican Candidate is former Congressman Mike Rogers, who ran against Elissa Slotkin in 2024 and lost by only .3% or about 19,000 votes, so this will be a tough race.

We must keep this seat if we have any hope of winning the Senate, which is why this is a textbook case for a nominee fund.  The winner will have a lot of catching up to do after August 4th, and we can help them.

As of 5/1/26, this  race is rated Toss Up by both the Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball.
