Volunteer to help our candidates flip the House and Senate!
Phonebanking and Door-to -Door Canvassing involve personal contact with citizens, which is why they are such effective ways to mobilize and persuade voters. Such conversations can help clarify our Democratic candidates’ positions in contrast to their opponents’ , encourage voting, provide insight into the ways voters are thinking, yield key information for the Get-Out-the-Vote election phase, etc.
Phonebanking is the most convenient form of voter contact because it can be done from anywhere.. Organizers request a commitment of two hours for each phone session. Sessions begin with orientation by a friendly, knowledgeable leader who explains the campaign, the easy calling procedure, and provides scripts. Campaigns use automated dialers, which means you’ll reach voters directly every time instead of going to voice-mail.

Door-to-Door canvassing is the most engaging form of voter contact. It starts at campaign headquarters, includes orientation by a friendly, knowledgeable leader who explains the campaign and provides resources including a script. Canvassers are assigned to a “turf,” with a map and addresses, and use a downloadable phone app called MiniVAN. Canvassers often work in pairs. “Turfs” typically can be completed in about two hours. If a canvasser opts to do two days in one weekend, they may need to find their own accommodations nearby. Some campaigns offer housing options.

Getting Started: Phonebanking and canvassing opportunities for House races can be found by clicking on the link in the column labeled “Candidate Mobilize” next to the candidate’s name in the Table below. This takes you to the candidate’s “Mobilize” page. (For some candidates it takes you to their website instead.) Scan the Mobilize page looking for events of interest.

You can narrow your choices by clicking on “Filters,” found near the top of the page between “Map” and “This Weekend.” Search-fields allow you to limit the possibilities by “Type” (e.g., Canvasses or Phone Banking, with “Virtual” for remote possibilities), “Near” (a city), “Date,” etc.

To locate events or additional candidates in your area, click on entries in the “State Mobilize” column in the Table, which takes you to the democratic committee mobilize page for that state. You can filter by town and county as well.
