“I’ve spent my life working for our community and putting politics aside to deliver tax relief for Michigan families, protect women’s right to choose, and bring good paying jobs back home. I’ll keep fighting to get your costs down, protect your Social Security and healthcare, and take on special interests to actually get things done for working people...Our families deserve a Representative who works as hard as they do and who focuses on what matters to them, and that's why I’m running for Congress.” (Ottawa News Network, 7/20/25)

POLITICS IN MICHIGAN

Democrats have a slim majority in the Michigan Senate and Republicans have a similar majority in the state‘s House of Representatives. Democrats hold every statewide office including governor.
Despite rumors he would retire, incumbent Republican Bill Huizenga is seeking re-election to a seat he won by double-digits in 2022. Trump won his district by only 5.5 points.
McCann’s current State Senate district constitutes 45% of MI 04.
The race is rated Lean R by both Sabato’s Crystal Ball and Inside Elections. The Cook Political Report rates it Likely Republican.
