Engage Voters Online

The majority of voters get most of their news online from non-traditional sources. The groups in this fund are working to engage and activate voters using trusted online messengers who fight propaganda and create and amplify pro-democracy content, including news.

The five groups in the Engage Voters Online Fund:

Voto Latino

Voto Latino uses digital media messaging in English and Spanish to increase Latino turnout and Democratic support by registering, mobilizing, and persuading voters. It maintains a year-round, culturally-focused presence in key swing states and districts emphasizing affordability, health care, and Republican extremism. Voto Latino is working to reach the rapidly growing population of newly eligible, often less engaged young Latino voters. The median age of Latino voters is 30, ten years younger than the average voter. For 2026, Voto Latino plans a multi-pronged strategy centered on combating disinformation, expanding paid and volunteer outreach, and protecting or flipping competitive House seats where Latino votes could be decisive.

The Rural House Accountability Project

The Rural House Accountability Project uses hyper-local media to amplify the voices of real people in the rural communities where lives and families have been hurt by Republican policies and actions. The specific districts they target are IA 01, IA 03, PA 07, PA 08, PA10, and WI 03. The Project has four parts: (1) Recruit and train trusted members of the community in each district - parents, educators, small business people, veterans, farmers, small-town mayors, nurses, and other working people - to become storytellers and online content creators; (2) Help these trusted local messengers generate hyper-localized messaging about the consequences of federal cuts and policies; (3) Distribute this content across many partner organization social feeds, and peer-to-peer distribution channels, like church listservs and  neighborhood groups; and (4) Integrate social media with relational organizing through Rural Democracy Initiative’s grassroots groups.

Onyx Impact

In 2023-24 the right inundated the Black community online with information designed to divide them, reduce trust in institutions, and suppress civic engagement. Democratic messaging in those online sites was almost absent. Founded in late 2023 by a veteran of Stacey Abrams’ Fair Fight, Onyx Impact aims to serve and empower Black communities by fighting the harmful information ecosystems targeting them.

Force Multiplier is supporting their Black Media Amplifier, a distribution engine that scales culturally relevant, truth-based content. This ensures that progressive Black messages don’t just exist—they thrive. Onyx Impact provides social media influencers with talking points, research, and production support to put them in the best possible position to make an impact on the largest possible audience. They aim to reach 80-100 news, culture, and lifestyle amplifier accounts garnering up to 15 million monthly views and 1000 weekly posts.

Courier Newsroom

Courier Newsroom has online newsrooms staffed by on-the-ground reporters and supported by dedicated digital platforms in 20 states and a Washington, D.C. bureau. Together, they reach over 100 million weekly views with over 9 million online followers and subscribers.  Aimed at politically disengaged folks - non-voters, independents, and cynics — Courier’s stories engage them through hyper-local issues such as bad sidewalks, high school sports, and local festivals. They include stories with a political bent into this mix. They’ve become trusted messengers and their staff have become locally-known celebrities. Courier Newsroom also translates news content into engaging and digestible pieces for use on digital platforms and  provides content so folks receive news without being aware of it. They create source material used by other groups, elected officials, etc.

Chorus

Chorus supports progressive and pro-democracy content creators to expand their reach and educate their audiences about everything happening in the White House, Congress, and in their own communities. They ensure content creators and policy-makers are learning the best practices in discussing these critical issues and the impacts that they have on everyday Americans. Chorus’ network is composed of influencers focused on fashion, food, fitness, beauty, sports, comedy, parenting, and news who want to integrate issues and politics into their content to reach more people authentically. Chorus’ Creator Incubator Program supports emerging progressive online with mentoring to help them engage more people, improve production values, and/or translate their message from one platform to another. The first cohort in the Program was 75 creators; Force Multiplier is mobilizing support to ensure Chorus has the resources to train and mentor the second cohort of 100 creators.
