Republican incumbent David Valadao is facing three Democratic candidates:  Randy Villegas, Jasmeet Bains, and Rudy Salas. Valadao defeated Salas by 6.8% in 2024. However, Prop 50 changed the District 22 boundaries to decrease Republican registration from 27% to 25% making it  more favorable for Democrats. Both the Cook Political Report and Sabato's Crystal Ball currently rate this race as Toss-up.
